SPIRITUALITY

Overnight Student Retreats

Fall and spring weekend retreats are coordinated and facilitated by student leaders who prepare talks, reflections and prayer rituals. The off campus retreats focus on encountering Christ in a small community. All students are welcome.

R.C.I.A.-- RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS

The RCIA is a program for persons who have a desire to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Eucharist or Confirmation. It is a process that enables one to become a member of the Catholic Church. Members of the Salve Regina University community journey with students who wish to make this commitment.

The RCIA provides you an opportunity to:

  • enjoy belonging to a faith filled -caring community
  • grow in understanding of scripture, sacraments, prayer
  • strengthen your relationship with God, self, and others

You’re invited:

  • if you, as a Catholic, did not yet receive the Sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation
  • if you were baptized in another Christian faith, but would like to be received into the Catholic religion
  • If you do not identify with any particular faith but are searching, or if you desire to become Catholic

Festival of Lights

This is an Advent celebration commemorating various religious traditions of lighting candles. Traditions include Jewish, Shinto, Kwanzaa, Greek, Catholic and others.

Inter-religious Luncheon

Each spring members of various religions gather with the Salve community to share traditions and enjoy a simple meal. All are welcome to join in the experience in the Ochre Court state dining room.

Senior Remembrance

In the spirit of the mission of Mercy and the quest for wisdom, Senior Remembrance honors and celebrates the personal achievements of senior students during their time at SRU. The Remembrance celebration unites us in prayer and thanksgiving as we acknowledge the growth and unfolding of the Senior as a human being during these four crucial years of life. Faculty and Staff join in the celebration that takes place on the Sunday of Senior Week and constitutes the beginning of the week–long celebration of Commencement.
