Each year, AmeriCorps offers thousands of adults the opportunity to serve through a network of partnerships with local and national nonprofit organizations. Locally, the Rhode Island Campus Compact hosts two AmeriCorps programs through the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Salve Regina students have the opportunity to participate in AmeriCorps through Scholarships for Service, a program that provides a $1,132 education award in exchange for a minimum of 300 hours of service during the academic year. Program enrollment begins in early September.
Scholarships for Service involves institutions of higher education throughout the state. Member campuses in Rhode Island have a deep commitment to the value of service in education and to fulfilling their public trust by graduating people who are active participants in civic life.
Current students who are interested in Scholarships for Service should contact the Office of Community Service at (401) 341-2440 or community.services@salve.edu.
