Community Service

Salve Regina considers participation in community service a visible way to live the mission of the University. Students are required to serve at least 10 hours prior to graduation, allowing them to share their talents with those in need and learn more about themselves and the community they call home.

Community service can include working with children or the elderly, volunteering in a sports-oriented atmosphere or in local soup kitchens, helping with food drives, working with animals, tutoring, assisting with environmental projects and more.

The Office of Community Service maintains an extensive inventory of service opportunities and facilitates transportation to service sites. Projects not offered through the Office of Community Service must be approved before they can be considered appropriate for a community service experience.

Mission of the Office of Community Service

Consistent with the mission of Salve Regina University, the Office of Community Service is dedicated to helping students strive to lead, build functional communities and become responsible citizens of the world.

Students at Salve Regina University participate in community service activities that not only benefit Aquidneck Island, but communities all around the world. Through nonprofit organizations, unique service events and internships, students aspire to grow in wisdom and spirituality.
