About the Program
Salve Regina University's interest in providing education in the area of the administration of justice has been defined by structuring the Law Enforcement Leadership program. This program is designed to respond more directly to the interests and needs of professionals in the field of law enforcement at the local, regional and state levels. Professionals in this field require an education that prepares them for challenges of leadership and for opportunities for career advancement. The Master of Science in Management: Concentration in Law Enforcement Leadership program provides the knowledge and skills necessary for enhancing a career in law enforcement management. This degree program provides professionals in administration of justice with a strong theoretical base for critical thinking, problem solving and developing the leadership skills necessary to respond to community needs and department responsibilities.

This program is structured to offer flexibility in scheduling allowing students to take some courses on campus and some online. This combination of learning opportunities allows the student to study on a schedule that fits the various time demands on law enforcement professionals. In addition, some courses are scheduled for weekend and week-long formats.

For those who have not yet made a decision for graduate study leading to a master's degree, 12-credit (four courses) graduate certificate programs have been developed that allow students to begin graduate studies and finish with a graduate certificate if that is their goal. If the student decides to continue with graduate studies, the four certificate courses also may be applied toward the completion of the Master of Science degree.

Salve Regina University takes pride in its long-standing recognition that professional education needs to include opportunities for the integration of skills, knowledge and values. Courses and assignments are developed to provide challenges to reflect upon learning activities to assist in the student's professional growth.

On campus, Online or On-site
The Master of Science in Management may be earned by taking courses at our beautiful Newport, R.I. campus, on-line through our eSalve Graduate Extensions Studies option, or by participating in specially designed programs, if available, on-site at your workplace. Many students accelerate completion of their degree by taking a combination of on-campus and on-line courses simultaneously. If you are interested in sponsoring an on-site degree program at your place of employment, please contact the Graduate Program Director for additional information.
