CGS in Substance Abuse Foundations in Rehabilitation Counseling

Our Certificate of Graduate Studies (CGS) programs provide students with opportunities for professional development without the formal pursuit of a graduate degree.

The CGS in substance abuse foundations in rehabilitation counseling offers interested students the opportunity for graduate-level study in foundations of substance abuse. To earn this certificate, students complete four courses (12 credits).

Required courses:

  • RHB505: Foundations of Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling: History, Principles, Laws and Ethics
  • Rehabilitation Counseling Practicum (150 hours in an organization serving individuals with substance abuse) or Laboratory in Interpersonal Communication Skills
  • Substance Abuse Counseling and Rehabilitation or Foundations of Substance Abuse
  • One elective chosen from a list of rehabilitation counseling courses
