Many of these graduates establish roots in Rhode Island and through their employment, volunteerism, and daily life experiences contribute toward making the state a better place to live. To date, the Ball has raised more than $4.2 million toward academic assistance and has become a well-known holiday tradition in the State of Rhode Island. Over the years the Ball has flourished into a festive, spectacular gala that is increasingly well attended. Many of our guests travel from out of state to attend and continue to return year after year to join in the festivities.

History: In 1977, Salve Regina along with the assistance of Governor J. Joseph Garrahy established the Governor’s Ball as a means to introduce corporate support for the University and to raise scholarship funds for the students of Salve Regina. This act of goodwill has benefited countless students over the years.
