Opening Night Celebration

6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 17 at the Jane Pickens Theater

The reception will feature a cash bar hosted by the Jane Pickens, with a selection of wines and French cocktails. The feature film, "Monsieur Lazhar," will begin at 7 p.m. Enter the raffle for a chance to win a basket of French products offered by festival sponsor French Source. The drawing will be held Sunday, March 24.

Matinee Reception

2 p.m. Sunday, March 24 in the O'Hare Academic Center

A reception will follow the screening of "The Well-Digger's Daughter." Enjoy refreshments and live music at this event co-sponsored by Alliance Francaise of Newport and Sodexo. Guitarist and vocalist Jacques and Marie-Claude Moriarty will perform familiar French songs such as those sung by Edith Piaf, Georges Brassens and Jacques Brel.

Closing Night Coffee

7 p.m. Thursday, March 28 in the O'Hare Academic Center

Come by early for complimentary coffee and mini-desserts provided by the French Confection before the 7 p.m. screening of "The Kid With a Bike." Enter the raffle for a wine basket offered by Spring Street Spirits.

Selections from Contemporary French Musicians

"La chanson Francaise," or French song, is a tradition that dates back to the troubadours of the Middle Ages. Recordings from selected contemporary musicians associated with "la nouvelle chanson Francaise" will be featured prior to each screening.
