Interests
Dr. Atkins joined Salve Regina University in 1985 following 26 years of active service with the US Navy. He is a graduate of the Naval War College in Newport Rhode Island. Before retiring as a Commander, he served in submarines, destroyers and on aircraft carrier battle group staffs in the Pacific area of operation and a commanding officer of a naval base in the Caribbean. He maintains a strong interest in Japan and other East Asia nations and their interactions within the global business community. His enduring love of the sea sustained by sailing and kayaking at when wind, seas and work permit. His professional goal is to provide Salve students the best possible educational opportunity to prepare for a competitive, global business community.
