The Curriculum

Through the curriculum students and faculty strive to achieve the objectives of the University’s mission. Students learn to express their thoughts by writing and speaking clearly and logically. They develop creativity, flexibility, and adaptability through exposure to the many ways academic disciplines learn about and express reality.

The curriculum has two components—General Education and Major courses. The General Education courses provide a broadly focused foundation in the liberal arts and sciences, ensuring that students have the opportunity to develop the range of knowledge that characterizes the educated person and that enriches the specialized knowledge acquired in the major field.

Courses within the major provide students with the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in a specific discipline or interdisciplinary area beyond the introductory level. In the major, the student develops an understanding of a discipline or area of study and its interrelatedness to other areas.

General Education Requirements

The following courses fulfill the University’s general education requirements. Students who have completed equivalent courses at another institution with a grade of "C" or better may use these as transfer courses toward the 120 credit degree requirement.
