Chair: John J. Salesses, Ph.D. Through the study of literature and communications, within the context of Catholic values, students in the Department of English refine and develop their understanding of human nature and the wisdom and enduring values that have shaped western civilization and our global, multi-cultural society. Guided by a highly qualified and dedicated faculty, students will develop an understanding of the important literary traditions, cultures, and genres; appreciate the aesthetic, moral, and intellectual values of literature and communications studies; enrich their critical thinking skills; and develop practical skills in academic research and effective use of formal expression in English.
