HONOR SOCIETY
Alpha Phi Sigma Gamma Lambda Chapter In the Spring 2001, the administration of justice department established the Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma, the National Criminal Justice Honor Society. For 58 years, Alpha Phi Sigma has provided leadership for the criminal justice professional by promoting the following four ideals: academic excellence, leadership, service, and unity. In the tradition of idealism, professionalism, and academic excellence, its founder recognized the need for an Honor Society to acknowledge these values in the performance of criminal justice students. In keeping with the tradition of recognizing the hard work and personal sacrifice required to achieve academic excellence, the Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma will publicly recognize selected individuals as outstanding students of criminal justice. This recognition will be accorded to students who meet standards of academic excellence, earning a minimum 3.2 GPA and a minimum 3.4 GPA in criminal justice courses. Additionally, students must demonstrate service to the community, the campus community, and leadership. These criteria for membership honor students who exhibit exemplary commitment to ideals our department consider important. On Law Day, May 1, 2001, the first administration of justice students were formally inducted into the Honor Society. They are:
