Hooding Ceremony & Baccalaureate Mass
We look forward to welcoming you to the Hooding Ceremony and Baccalaureate Mass on Saturday, May 16, at 3:30 pm.
The Hooding Ceremony, which is a Salve Regina tradition, is a notable part of this liturgy. Each baccalaureate candidate will receive a hood. The hoods are a sign of academic achievement and the trim of the hood signifies the degree earned. White trimmed hoods are the Bachelor of Arts degrees. Yellow trimmed hoods are the Bachelor of Sciences and the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degrees. The hoods are lined in blue and white to represent the school colors.
The Baccalaureate Mass will begin once all graduates have received their hoods.
Although Associate degree candidates do not receive hoods, they are invited to attend the Baccalaureate Eucharist.
Graduates participating in the Baccalaureate Mass must be seated in the O'Hare Academic Center by 2:30 p.m., so we ask that you arrange your plans for lunch or other activities accordingly.
Clergy Request Form
Any graduating senior with a relative who is a Roman Catholic priest may request that he con-celebrate at this Eucharist. A clergy request form may be obtained from the Mercy Center for Spiritual Life between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon Monday through Thursday, or you may call the office at (401) 341-2326 during these hours. These forms must be returned to the Mercy Center for Spiritual Life no later than Monday, May 11.
