COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES Every graduate intending to participate in the Commencement Exercises must be in an assigned seat in O’Hare Rooms 228-229 by 8:15 am. If you are not in place by 8:15 am, your diploma will be removed, and your name will not be called during the ceremony. There can be no exceptions. Please allow yourself and your family plenty of time for traveling to the University, finding a parking place, preparing your attire for the procession, and locating your seat in O’Hare. Directions for the academic procession will be given at this time. Before leaving home, be certain that you have with you your cap, gown, tassel, and academic hood. The Academic Procession into the tent will begin at 9:15 am. Guests should be seated by that time. The ceremony will end at about noon. Academic Attire Men should wear black shoes, black socks, dark trousers (preferably black), white shirt, dark tie, cap, gown and hood. Women should wear black shoes, neutral stockings, dress, cap, gown and hood. At the Commencement ceremony, corsages or other ornamentation are not allowed on the outside of the gown. Food Service and Facilities Handicapped and non-handicapped restrooms will be available behind O'Hare Academic Center at the right rear of the tent. Photography Seven Oceans Video & Digital Media will videotape Commencement. Videos of the ceremony may be purchased through Seven Oceans, Inc., which will provide the video by direct mail after receiving an order.
