Coach Ed Habershaw

Ed Habershaw returned to guide the Seahawk women's tennis program in 2003 after a two-year leave of absence while earning a master's degree at the University. His career record of 161 wins and 47 losses (.774) includes 10 conference championships and three runner-up finishes in 13 seasons with the Seahawk women's program.

Habershaw had also guided the Salve Regina men's tennis program for four years in the 1990s, winning three conference championships. Three-time Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Coach of the Year, Habershaw has coached four women's players who would be recognized by the conference with the Senior Scholar Athlete Award (Christen Barrasso '98, Hikari Tamura '00, Laura Valcourt '02, Katie Wright '06).

His teams have embraced the philosophy, "Positive thoughts produce positive results." Program highlights instituted under Habershaw include an annual Halloween practice, a spring season, and a regular trip south during Spring Break.

After graduating from Bryant College, Habershaw worked at an advertising agency in his hometown before moving on to a four-year stint as sports producer at a top-rated radio station in Rhode Island. He has served as Salve Regina's sports information director since 1992.

He lives with his wife Lynne and their two children, Taylor and Kiernan, in Warwick, Rhode Island.
