FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: Can you tell me about Salve Regina's campus? A: Our beautiful campus is located on the ocean in Newport, Rhode Island (http://www.newportonline.com), an historic New England seaport rich in cultural, recreational and educational opportunities with easy access to Providence, Boston, and Worcester. Newport is recognized all over the world as a top-notch destination, and is the site of many festivals and events all throughout the year. At Salve Regina University, we enroll 2,200 men and women from 40 states and 24 foreign countries and have over 13,000 alumni and alumnae. Q: How come I have never heard of Salve Regina lacrosse? A: The program is fairly new. Salve Regina lacrosse has only been an intercollegiate varsity program since 1997. The team has improved with years. The recent addition of the first full time head lacrosse coach in August 2003, will help galvanize the team in the next stage of this young, growing program. Q: Do you offer scholarships and/or financial aid? A: As a member of the NCAA Division III, we adhere to the philosophy of "academics before athletics." Financial aid is offered on a need basis, no athletic scholarships are offered. However, qualified students are eligible for merit scholarships based on academics. A: We play a regional schedule consisting of conference and non-conference DIII opponents. As a member of the Commonwealth Coast Conference we are eligible for a conference tournament, as well as the opportunity to represent the conference as the automatic qualifier in the NCAA DIII Championships. Salve Regina is also eligible for the ECAC DIII Regional Championship. We play year-round. Check back here regularly for additional answers to frequently asked questions.
