FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: What associations is your program a member of? A: We are members of three associations: Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III. Q: How did you place in your conference championships? A: We tied for 2nd with Gordon College, and placed two runners (Anissa Vieira – sophomore, Tyngsborough Mass., and Devin Devost – freshman, Concord, N.H.) on the all-conference team. For the second consecutive year, Salve Regina won the team sportsmanship award. Q: What is your training philosophy? A: I believe in a high work ethic and serious attitude towards the sport. By training consistently in various pace zones and levels of effort at various distances and terrain, we strive to improve performance and fitness level, while avoiding injury. We want our runners to do work diligently toward their goals, but also to enjoy the day to day training process, to develop team camaraderie, and long term friendships over the years. With athletic fulfillment, we want individuals to continue running and fitness activities beyond their experience at Salve. Q: What are some of your running routes like? A: Most routes start from the Rodgers Recreation Center, and include many nearby parks such as Fort Adams State Park, and Brenton Point. Some routes are on scenic Ocean Drive, or on the Cliff Walk - both overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Occasionally we run on Newport's First Beach, so our runners are on a variety of surfaces to strengthen the legs.
