Cori Hughes - Women’s Basketball
Daniel Webster became a competitive program in the GNAC in recent years under Hughes. After struggling through down seasons in 2002-03 and 2003-04 (5-36 overall, 2-22 GNAC), her squad won 25 games over a three-year span from 2004-05 through 2006-07, including a 10-win season in 2005-06. Hughes takes over the defending champion of The Commonwealth Coast Conference, as Salve Regina won its fourth TCCC title in the last six years under Amanda Van Voorhis. Van Voorhis left to become an assistant coach for longtime Brown University head coach Jeanie Burr. "I am very excited for the opportunity at Salve Regina," Hughes said. "Amanda Van Voorhis did a wonderful job here, and I know I have some big shoes to fill. I'm eager to take on that challenge." In addition to her time at Daniel Webster, Hughes coached five seasons at Cohasset (Mass.) Middle/High School and one season at Millis (Mass.) High School. She also has worked numerous basketball camps and clinics throughout the region over the last 16 years. Hughes also has experience coaching men's and women's cross country, women's soccer and softball at the collegiate level. As a player, Hughes was a member of the Boston University women's basketball team from 1988-92. She was the first junior to be elected as a team captain in school history during her junior season. |
