Meet the Staff
Bernard Walls, Head Athletic Trainer
Bernard Walls works closely with Salve Regina University's varsity athletes, taking steps to prevent and care for athletic-related injuries and any rehabilitation. Prior to his appointment at Salve Regina University he was an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Rhode Island for 2 1/2 years. He is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association and the Rhode Island Athletic Trainers Association. Walls was born in Manila, Philippines, raised in Audubon, Pa., and served four years as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy. He earned his B.S. from the University of Rhode Island in 2000. While serving as the Head Athletic Trainer for Avella (Pa.) High School he earned his M.S. from the California University of Pennsylvania in 2002.

Amanda Carsten, Assistant Athletic Trainer
Amanda Carsten joined the Salve Regina University community in 2005 as one of the assistant athletic trainers. She is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Board of Certification (NATABOC) and is a Rhode Island State Licensed Certified Athletic Trainer. Amanda graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2004, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and Sports Medicine. Amanda is also active in national and regional athletic training associations (NATA, EATA, and RIATA). Before joining the Salve Regina staff, Amanda served an internship as an athletic trainer at Roger Williams University.

Scott Goode, Assistant Athletic Trainer
Scott Goode has enjoyed three full years working with the Seahawk student-athletes. He graduated from Roanoke (Va.) College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training in 2003. Sports worked there included soccer, lacrosse, baseball and field hockey. As a competitive athlete, he played intramural sports and was involved with the club rugby team and the club ice hockey team. He came to Rhode Island in September 2003 to work as a clinical assistant in physical therapy. In his free time, Scott enjoys surfing, Ultimate Frisbee, lacrosse, and hiking. "I enjoy working with athletes: they always want to get better. And if they don't, they are hurting themselves and their team. Most athletes realize that and so are a pleasure to work with. I love the sports I am involved with here."

Kerri Ventresca, Assistant Athletic Trainer
Kerri Ventresca recently joined the sports medicine team at Salve Regina University as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. She will be working with the varsity athletes to prevent, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries. Prior to joining the staff at Salve Regina, Kerri worked as a resident athletic trainer at Boston College for two years, and then at Brown University for one year. Kerri is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association. She graduated with honors from Salem State College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training and sport, fitness, and leisure. She is currently finishing a Masters degree from California University of Pennsylvania.
