HENNIKER, N.H. - Freshmen Brendan Carroll (Garden City, N.Y.) and Chris Walker (Marshfield, Mass.) each scored three goals and senior goalie Brian Walker (Marshfield, Mass.) stopped eight shots to lead the No. 5 seed Salve Regina University men's lacrosse team to a 14-6 win over No. 4 seed New England College in the quarterfinals of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Tournament Tuesday afternoon.
The Seahawks (10-5) outshot the Pilgrims 53-32 and helped avenge last Saturday's 12-10 loss to NEC (8-7), which decided home field for Tuesday's contest. With the win, Salve Regina advances to TCCC Semifinals to face No. 2 seed Western New England College Thursday in Springfield.
The Seahawks led 8-5 entering the fourth before outscoring NEC 6-1 to pull away and advance to TCCC Semifinals for the third-consecutive season. Carroll scored two of his three goals in the final stanza.
Salve Regina led 3-2 after one quarter and 6-3 at halftime behind a pair of goals by Walker. Each team scored two goals in the third.
Senior Ryan Doherty (Newton, Mass.) and sophomores Blair Kelley (Lee, N.H.) and Evan Gates (Ridge, N.J.) all scored twice for Salve Regina. Matt Goyette tallied three times to lead NEC.
