The George Warren Smith Trophy

A gorgeous autumn weekend had some tricky and shifty conditions with a northerly breeze at 8-12 knots and 100% sunshine on Saturday. Sunday dawned with a bit of haze and a NE breeze that oscillated to the east with pressure in the 7-10 knot range.
Quite long WLW courses with a record total of 28 schools competing on one starting line. My guess is that this is the largest number of entries in any college sailing regatta for 2007. Fifteen races were completed in both divisions and an enjoyable weekend of competition was had by all competitors. Congrats to the MIT Beavers who won their first trophy regatta of the Fall season.
Fran Charles and Alvar Saenz-Otero managed the races with Wally Corwin and Conan Hom assisting on dock staff at the pavilion. The MIT Varsity Sailing members- Toan, Eddie, Ciuffo, Zeke and Christie helped out with all the scoring and print outs.
