McAllister Earns NSCAA Honors

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University sophomore Sean McAllister (North Arlington, N.J.) has been named to the 2009 NSCAA NCAA Division III All-New England Region East Second Team.

A First Team All-The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) selection in October, McAllister led the Seahawks in both goals (eight) and points (20) during the regular season. He netted two game-winning goals (Sept. 30 - Univ. of New England; Oct. 24 - Eastern Nazarene) and finished tied for fourth in the conference in goals and seventh in points. Last week, McAllister was named to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Men's Soccer All-Star Second Team.

"A few weeks ago when Sean was named to the ECAC New England All-Star Team, I thought then and there that it would be the first of several awards for him after what he accomplished this season," said Salve Regina head coach Craig O'Rourke II. "I think that Sean, very much like this team, started to really develop and come into his own this season, and I am very pleased that the NSCAA and the other Division III college coaches in New England acknowledged this and everything that Sean did on the field with this award. But knowing Sean as I do, I think he will use this award as added motivation in preparing for the 2010 season and ultimately, in focusing on what we as a program need to accomplish next year - winning the conference championship."

McAllister was one of nine The Commonwealth Coast Conference student-athletes represented on the team, joining Justin Plourde of Roger Williams, Anthony Berntsen of Wentworth, and Matthew Horth of Gordon on the East First Team; Liam Isleib of Roger Williams on the East Second Team; Alex Dos Santos of Western New England and George Markopoulos of Anna Maria on the West First Team; and Kyle Bak and Justin Martins of Western New England on the West Second Team.

The Seahawks finished the regular season 11-7-1 (8-4-1 TCCC).
