The Salve Regina University ENS-Alert Service Salve Regina University has implemented an Emergency Notification System (ENS) designed to reach all students, faculty and staff using voice, e-mail and text messaging. Salve Regina administration and security personnel will use the system to broadcast vital information in the case of an emergency situation on campus or for severe weather-related advisories. Powered by Blackboard Connect, this system will be known as the ENS-Alert service on campus. During critical events, the ENS-Alert service will be used to deliver advisories and instructions to registered users within the university community via cell phone, land lines, wireless PDA, text pager, e-mail and other communication devices.Frequently Asked Questions: QUESTION: How do I register? ANSWER: Students, faculty and staff can register for the ENS-Alert service by logging in to My Salve. Students need to continue the process by reviewing and/or editing their contact information within the MY INFORMATION/MY STUDENT INFO areas. Step-by-step directions are listed on the main screen of My Salve. Faculty and staff may submit their information by following the directions on the ENS-Alert notice posted on the main screen after logging in to My Salve. QUESTION: What data should I provide? ANSWER: Because the ENS-Alert service will be used during emergency situations or for severe weather advisories, the most effective number is your mobile phone number. For students, all relevant data from the campus information system collected at the point of enrollment has been entered into the ENS-Alert system. This is why you must take the extra steps to verify or edit the mobile phone entry. Faculty and staff are also advised to provide their mobile phone numbers and to keep their phones in vibrate mode while on campus. If a mobile phone number has not been provided, the data will default back to the home phone number on file in the campus information system. QUESTION: How will I know my registration is complete? ANSWER: After submitting your mobile phone number you will receive a text confirmation. THE CONFIRMATION WILL BE SENT FROM A CALLER ID NUMBER APPEARING AS 23177 ON YOUR MOBILE DEVICE. SAVE THIS NUMBER ON YOUR MOBILE DEVICE AS SRU-ALERT. THIS WILL HELP YOU EASILY IDENTIFY ANY FUTURE ALERTS THAT ARE SENT. THE FIRST ROUND OF CONFIRMATION MESSAGES WILL BE SENT ON WEDNESDAY APRIL 30, 2008. A UNIVERSAL TEST OF THE ENS-ALERT SERVICE WILL TAKE PLACE ON FRIDAY, MAY 2 AT 3 P.M. If you register your phone number after these dates, you should receive confirmation on the Tuesday or Thursday following your registration. QUESTION: What if I don’t want to be charged for, or receive, a text message? ANSWER: If you do not wish to receive text messages in the future, you may opt out after reading the initial confirmation message by sending the text reply STOP SRUTEXT.
