Shanley joined
the Office of Admissions in 2006 after serving as Salve Regina’s assistant
athletic director and men’s tennis head coach for more than a decade. In
addition to working with students from Massachusetts, Vermont and Colorado, he
oversees the University's tour guide program. Shanley’s goal to provide direction and
support where needed for both prospective students and those that enroll. “I
enjoy helping people find their way,” he says.
Prior to joining
the Salve Regina community, Shanley taught at Bishop Feehan High School,
negotiated sales and service contracts for two technology firms and worked for
the inaugural World Scholar-Athlete Games and the International Tennis Hall of
Fame. A Newport resident, he appreciates all the city has to offer, especially
“the landscape, access to the ocean, the harbor and an amazing array of
art studios and events.”
Outside of work, Shanley enjoys
spending time with his wife and son and is an active tennis and platform tennis
player. “I am fortunate to be at Salve,” he says. “It is a university where
young people can reach their potential in so many areas of their lives.
Hopefully I can help in some way in that process.”
