Students who
major in secondary education select a double major in one of the following
content areas: biology, English, French, history, mathematics or Spanish.
Students should consult the department website pertinent to the double major of
their choice for information
regarding specific course requirements.
Students majoring in secondary education take a
minimum of 15 courses (41 credits).

Students also complete the

Minor in Secondary Education
Students completing a minor in
secondary education take a minimum of seven courses (18 credits). Students who
minor in secondary education are not eligible for Rhode Island teacher
certification.

Students choose one additional three-credit
elective and two one-credit workshops in secondary education in consultation
with the program coordinator.
