Salve Regina offers a comprehensive liberal arts education featuring a wide range of academic disciplines. Students are encouraged to explore their interests and define their goals before declaring a major at the end of their second year of study. In addition, the Core Curriculum is designed to ensure that graduates are well prepared to enter their chosen field of industry, equipped with the skills needed to succeed in today's fast-paced, continually evolving workplace.

In November 2008, the editors at Transworld Surf magazine – the Bible for ardent surfers – pegged Salve Regina in its Top 10 Surf Colleges in America. The university’s location along the Cliff Walk places students in close proximity to several of Newport’s surf spots, including the legendary East Coast break Ruggles.
