Sustainability at Salve

As a Catholic institution of higher education, Salve Regina has an opportunity and an obligation to promote and reinforce good environmental stewardship by integrating the ethical, social, economic and ecological values of environmentally sustainable development into University policy and practice.

To achieve a sustainable campus, Salve Regina must ensure that the University's current needs are met today, without compromising the mission, longevity and prosperity of the institution or the ability of its students, faculty and staff to meet their future needs. Addressing sustainability across campus and within the surrounding community is a timely discussion during this United Nations decade of education for sustainable development.

About 90 percent of the energy used for washing clothes in a conventional top-load washer is for heating the water. Clean the dry lint filter before each dryer cycle. Clothing will dry faster and may save you from having to run the dryer cycle twice for larger loads.
