Roberto Rosa and his company Serpentino Stained Glass of Needham, Mass., were selected to restore the La Farge stained glass windows that hang in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel. The process of restoring the windows took painstaking care and close attention to detail, but Rosa notes: "Every square foot of the window is different, it's interesting, you're learning and it's motivating ... you just want to work on it. It's really a passion, a love and after you install the window and look up at it in the light, that's what is rewarding, just how beautiful it looks."
The windows took just over a year to restore and were then displayed at William Vareika Fine Arts in Newport as part of an exhibit on La Farge's work. The windows were installed in the fall of 2010, and can be viewed in the prayer room and also in the main chapel.
